Why Portugal accepts austerity?

For a nine hundred year-old country that has seen almost everything, owned half world and faced extreme poverty, having the worlds' best National Health Service, had the deadliest diseases. We were the first global empire in history!

We had it all and lost focus, got dispersed.. but created monumentally beautiful works of art as palaces, monasteries, gardens ..

We lost it all but discovered what really matters.. The people! The land for them to live in, great food, natural beauty, nice weather, ocean proximity..

Portugal accepts austerity because that is a "small" price to pay for living in paradise..

Portuguese people do not need to work hard to prove themselves, they have great achievements carved in their DNA and they know it! The entire mentioned above make us proud of being Portuguese! And although we do not need to prove ourselves, we will transcend whenever the challenge require us to.. We have a particular characteristic, we are "desenrascados" a word that does not exist in any other language and means we are able to and agile in solving expected and unexpected problems. For all that and for the country we have our potential is enormous!
